Mathematics is simply the study of patterns. Sometimes, we investigate why there is no pattern. We see a lot of patterns around us – the flowers, rainbow, ripples on a pond, spider’s web, roads, buildings, etc. There are also patterns which our eyes cannot see but can be discerned by our other senses and mind. There is so much mathematics in the music we hear and the numbers we use everyday.

Through this presentation, I would like to show the beauty of these patterns.

Arithmetic   – patterns of numbers
Algebra   – patterns of variables
Geometry   – patterns of shapes
Trigonometry   –  patterns of ratios of sides of triangles
Statistics   –  patterns of tendencies and probabilities
Calculus   – patterns of change

Topology   – patterns of surfaces
